Two auditors
were arrested on Saturday for forging documents and helping a woman grab 40
acres of tea estate at Valparai in Coimbatore district. The duo was produced
before a judicial magistrate and was lodged at Coimbatore central prison.
The arrested
persons have been identified as S Radhakrishnan (67) and his younger brother S
Paramasivam (62), both hailing from Bhavani Shankar Rao Street in Pollachi.
Police said, they were auditors who had forged documents pertaining to a tea
estate for a woman.
Coimbatore
district superintendent of police M Sudhakar received a petition from Shantha
Kurian (60) of Avarampalayam in the city in January stating she owned 40-acres
of tea estate named RK Plantation at Valparai. Shantha and her husband Kurian
made a partnership deed with Raisen Pachen of Valparai for the estate in 1990.
Later Pachan had relieved himself from the partnership.
Meanwhile,
Shantha's husband Kurian died due to ill-health in January 23, 2004. A
73-year-old woman, Maya Philip, from Valparai, ZK Eipe from Mumbai and AK Iype
from Kochi approached the auditors to forge documents to grab the 40 acres of tea
estate in 2013.
Following
this, the auditors had bought six stamp papers from vendor Rajaram in Pollachi
in 2013 and made a fresh partnership deed without property owner Shantha's
knowledge. The auditors mentioned that the deed was made in 2004.
Shantha's
elder son Abraham Regi Kurian came to India from Dubai and found that his
family properties were grabbed by the trio. He filed an RTI with the treasury
office enquiring about the six stamp papers and its serial numbers. He also
asked when the papers were sold to the vendors. He collected all the
information and approached the police.
Based on his
complaint, district crime branch police arrested the auditors on Saturday and
remanded them to judicial custody on Sunday. Police said, five more persons,
Maya, Eipe, Iype, auditor Paramasivam's wife Geetha and stamp vendor Rajaram
are absconding.
