Acting
swiftly on alleged swindling of land transport subsidy (LTS) worth Rs 26 crore,
the Arunachal Government has suspended the Director of Food and Civil Supplies
department, CN Longphai, Joint Director J Koyu and Finance & Accounts
Officer K Panor.
The Rs 26
crore fraud was detected when one T Koyu filed an FIR on February 17 last in
which he alleged that some unknown persons forged and cheated him of few crores
of rupees, which was released as LTS by the Department of Food and Civil
Supplies. The money, designated as LTS (kerosene) for at least four firms, was
illegally withdrawn through a fake power of attorney.
The three
officers, suspended in connection with fraudulent withdrawal of LTS bill, have
been directed not to leave the State capital without prior permission from the
competent authority.
Penalty
imposed on PIO: The Arunachal Pradesh State Information Commission (APIC) under
the single bench of Information Commissioner Abraham K Techi has imposed a
penalty of Rs 25,000 on PIO/Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Sagalee, J
Pertin, for ‘deliberately’ defying Commission’s orders in connection with case
No. APIC-21/Gen.Corr/2013-14 and also for violation of section 7 of RTI Act,
2005.
In an
official statement, the Commission directed the PIO to deposit the said amount
in account number 0070 AG Itanagar within 10 days failing which it warned of
taking necessary action against him under the RTI Act, 2005.
