Times of India: Jaipur: Saturday, February 01, 2014.
The state information commissioner has imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the secretary of Madhorajpura gram panchayat of Jaipur district's Phagi tehsil for repeatedly failing to provide information under the RTI Act.
A senior citizen and resident of the gram panchayat, Manak Chand, had been seeking information regarding allotment documents of his parental house from the secretary for the past two years. The secretary allegedly acting under pressure from the then village sarpanch, who was accused of forging the documents, had been withholding the information.
Chief information commissioner T Srinivasan, while imposing the fine on the secretary, has ordered that the desired information sought by the senior citizen be provided to him with 15 days free of cost.
