The state
information commissioner has imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the secretary of
Madhorajpura gram panchayat of Jaipur district's Phagi tehsil for repeatedly
failing to provide information under the RTI Act.
A senior
citizen and resident of the gram panchayat, Manak Chand, had been seeking
information regarding allotment documents of his parental house from the
secretary for the past two years. The secretary allegedly acting under pressure
from the then village sarpanch, who was accused of forging the documents, had
been withholding the information.
Chief
information commissioner T Srinivasan, while imposing the fine on the
secretary, has ordered that the desired information sought by the senior
citizen be provided to him with 15 days free of cost.
