Surat collector's office goes tech savvy

Taking a decisive step to make governance of collector's office open to all, after the success of File tracking system online, now the registry software has become functional.
Now, the applicants will be able to apply online and would be able to demand the copies of the documents that they desire.
Surat collector's office had launched a web site with file tracking system to make the whole process transparent some three months ago. More than 12,000 people have taken benefit of the online system till now. They are able to view the status of their file sitting at home.
The new registry software has been developed by information technology (IT) cell and National Informatics Centre and has been activated from January, 01, 2014.
"We are planning to put RTI applications process under Right to information Act 2005 online in coming days," said an official from collector's office. "People would be able view the status of their RTI applications online," he added.
