Economic Times: New Delhi: Wednesday, October 02, 2013.
After his
name figured in the list of MPs who continue to occupy bungalows allotted to
them as ministers, BJP leaderRavi Shankar Prasad said the House Committee of
Rajya Sabha has given him a bungalow from its own pool as per his entitlement.
Prasad's name
figured in the list of MPs occupying government bungalows above their
entitlement, as per information provided in an RTI response by the Ministry of
Urban Development.
"I am
also the Deputy Leader of my party in the Rajya Sabha and as per proper
entitlement, the bungalow has been allotted to me by the House Committee of the
Rajya Sabha from its own pool where I continue as present. Obviously the RTI
information about me is not correct. This fact needs to be published,"
said Prasad.
He said the
inclusion of his name in the list of such MPs who were not vacating bungalows
was "factually incorrect and based upon insufficient information".
The BJP
leader said he was allotted a type VII bungalow in his capacity as a minister
but after he demitted office the bungalow was reverted to the Rajya Sabha Pool
and more than six year ago, a suitable bungalow of type VII from the Rajya
Sabha pool has been given to the ministry of Urban Development.
