Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission directs DGP to initiate action against OC

Times of India: Itanagar: Sunday, June 09, 2013.
The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has recommended the state's director-general of police (DGP) to initiate 'disciplinary action' against the officer-in-charge of Sangram police station under Kurung Kumey district for "willfully" disobeying its order to furnish information under the RTI Act, 2005.
The OC, who is also the public information officer (PIO), did not furnish information sought by a senior citizen from the village who cannot read and write, officials said.
The APIC received a complaint from one Yumlam Pumi, stating that inspite of the commission's "order" dated August 13, 2012, the OC did not furnish him the case records pertaining to a motor vehicle accident in which his younger brother Yumlam Tarang died, because of which the poor man could not file the case for claiming compensation.
