Times of India: Nagpur: Wednesday, May 08, 2013.
Replying to a
Right To Information (RTI) query the Nagpur University has given out details of
action taken against people for misconduct during examinations. The names
mentioned are specifically of college staff (both teaching and non-teaching)
who were found to have violated exam bye-laws.
The RTI was
filed by a citizen Abhay Kolharkar after noticing some shortcomings in NU.
"They have a special disciplinary committee to look into such violations
but I came to know that it has not met for over a year. I filed an RTI to check
what has transpired within the meetings and was given a formal reply,"
said Kolharkar.
The NU has
informed that action has been taken against 32 such persons found to be
violating norms. The decision on all these 32 persons was taken by Board of
Examination in its meeting held on February 7, 2012.
The RTI query
came with the heading 'list of teachers who have been given warning or have been
debarred from the examination for their negligence/misconduct in the University
examination by Board of Examination'.
Though the
heading mentions teachers, the RTI query reveals that action has even been
taken against cycle stand contractor for violations. Kolharkar, said,
"There are people who have done their doctorate and action has been taken
against them. I am shocked how such people can behave in this way even though
they are educated."
