Indore farmers allege forgery in housing scheme in Palakhedi village

Daily Bhaskar: Indore: Thursday, March 14, 2013.
The farmers on Wednesday accused housing board officers of forgery in proposed housing scheme at Palakhedi village.
Referring to information obtained through RTI on proposed scheme, the farmers alleged that the housing board had actually got approval for Smart Township Project in Indore-Mhow-Pithampur region as part of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor but later on the officers fraudulently transferred the scheme to Palakhedi village.
Farmers' representative Rahul Purohit said that housing board responding to four land acquisition objections submitted by farmers, had replied that the land is being acquired in Palakhedi village for the scheme on the basis of board meeting no 212 held on November 15, 2011.
The volunteer activist claimed that information received under RTI revealed that the said board meeting actually had assigned in-principle approval to Smart Township project and not the Palakhedi project.
"The project was meant for three villages--Umaria, Malhar and Kawti, while later on the housing board deviated from the original project area and started the project in village Palakhedi at Super Corridor," Purohit said.
Indore collector Aakash Tripathi claimed that the said scheme of Smart Township is entirely a different project. "The commissioner, housing board is empowered to propose land acquisition for any project," said Tripathi.
However, housing board commissioner Mukesh Chandra Gupta was not available for comments on the contentious issue.
