Father runs from pillar to post, fails to seek justice for daughter

Fed up with the false assurances by the senior police officers and the politicians that justice would be done to his daughter, Jaswant Singh, a retired employee of the Punjab police finally announced to hold dharna before the office of the Jalandhar Police Commissioner in case justice was not done to her daughter within a week.
Interacting with the media this afternoon, Jaswant Singh alleged that his daughter Rajwinder Kaur was married to Ramesh Lal, son of Sat Pal of Phagwara in 1998. Six months after only she was forced to bring Rs. 2 lakh from her parents. But the family failed to arrange for the money. Meanwhile some reputed persons intervened to patch up.
Three children were also born out of the conjugal relations between the couple. The in-laws of Rajwinder Kaur continued harassing her following which a complaint was filed at PS division no. 4 here u/s 498, 406 and 342 of the IPC against Ramesh Lal, his parents and a sister on June 29, 2006. The police arrested all the four persons.
Since Sat Pal, father-in-law of Rajwinder was a rich persons having links with influential politicians, he managed to get the matter reinvestigated and succeeded in getting the FIR registered against him and other family members cancelled.
The then SP (crime) probed the matter without summoning us to place the facts and the FIR was cancelled with in five months after it was registered.
Jaswant Singh alleged that he had applied for a copy of the proceedings of the inquiry conducted by the SP (crime) under RTI act 2005 under which the FIR was cancelled on May 17, 2007 in the office of the DGP at Chandigarh but till date he had not received any copy.
He said that the IG Jalandhar II had also asked the Police Commissioner to review the case but all in vain.
He said that he had been running from pillar to post for the last more than six years to seek justice for his daughter and three children and even had met the deputy chief minister but to no avail.
