Rubbishing
the state government’s claim that around 65,000 youths were provided employment
in a week’s time in private sector during its job fairs, called Rojgar Melas,
in April this year, an RTI activist has claimed 11,172 (17 per cent) of them
were placed as apprentices, which is not employment according to laws.
Addressing a
press conference on Friday, city-based RTI activist Rohit Prajapati said he had
obtained the figures through an RTI query which he and Amrish Brahmbhatt of
Vadodara-based Jyoti Karmachari Mandal had filed in April. Prajapati said
“employment letters” handed over to the unemployed did not have details like
designation, salary and terms and condition of service.
Also, names
of 752 youths of the total 6,775 of Vadodara district who were given
“employment” figure twice in the list, the activist claimed.
