The Right to
Information Act is to blame for the slow decision-making process in the state,
Prithviraj Chavan, CM, said on Sunday. Speaking at an occasion to mark his two
years in office, he said bureaucrats had to be doubly sure that rules and
procedures are followed before taking any decision.
Chavan has
often been criticised by opponents as well as the NCP the Congress’ coalition
partner in the state for being slow in taking decisions.
In the age of
transparency, said Chavan, anyone can access information through the RTI and
point out mistakes if rules/procedures are not followed. Bureaucrats and
officials have to ensure that no such things happen, he said.
Cong-NCP
alliance: Chavan said there were no differences between the parties and the
alliance would continue in the assembly and Lok Sabha polls in 2014.
