State short of 53 IAS officers, RTI reveals

The Maharashtra administration is short of as many as 53 IAS officers. The state government said this in reply to an RTI application filed by activist Om Prakash Sharma.
In the reply received on Wednesday, the state government said the sanctioned strength of IAS officers for the state was 350, while there were only 297 officials available
It also stated that a total of 74 officials from the state cadre and promoted IAS officers were also available, while 12 others from non-state services selected for the IAS cadre were in service at present.
The reply said all relevant records relating to IAS officers was destroyed in the recent fire in Mantralaya, but based on information stored in a pen drive, the reply was furnished.
