The Haryana
Urban Development Authority (Huda) administrator has directed all the officials
to reply to all Right to Information (RTI) applications within 15 days and with
appropriate answers. “If you fail to answer or delay the query deliberately,
that would amount to contempt of RTI Act and will be liable for disciplinary
action," Praveen Kumar told officials during a hearing on RTI applications
on Wednesday.
The
administrator's direction came after scores of applicants went to the Sector 14
office and complained that officials were not giving correct answers despite
muliple RTIs being filed by them.
The
administrator directed the officials of the estate office, chief accounts,
horticulture, town planning and engineering to reply to queries within 15 days
of receiving the applications.
During the hearing,
an applicant alleged that he had visited the office several times to verify
whether Huda had received his application, but no one bothered to answer him
"Give
him all the answers… he has every right to know,” the administrator told the
concerned official.
Similarly, an
applicant who had come from Delhi, told HT that his query about the status of
his plot was never attended by the concerned official.
“I booked a
plot in 2006 at Sector 57. But till date, I have got no plot on ground. I filed
an RTI to get to know about the status of my plot.
After
repeated attempts, I finally met the administrator who has directed the town
planning department to reply to my queries," said Satish Kumar.
