The folklore Sobane songs (sung during weddings) depict the realities of rustics living, their joys and sorrows vividly, opined Sri Panditaradhya Swamiji of Sanehally mutt at Sirigere on Sunday.
Swamiji, who has penned 32 books, participated in the state-level Sobane competitions. He told participants to uphold the values of rustics who lived a natural life with nature and all living beings.
Prof T Neelambike appreciated the commitment of participants in carrying forward the rich legacy of rustics in songs and other forms of folklore. Another scholar Prof Kumaraswamy noted the commitment of religious institutions in Chitradurga, such as Chinmuladri Bruhanmutt, Sirigere Bruhanmutt, Sanehally mutt and Anathasevasrama at Malladihally in encouraging folk art forms of Bhajana, Veeragase, Sobane.

Likewise, villagers of Chikkandavadi have brought up the issue of an incomplete community building and urged DC and CEO to conduct spot mahazars for claims of false billing of Rs 1.5 lakh. Villagers filed separate complaints after obtaining information through RTI.
