Nanavati’s son drew Rs2.54 lakh as A'bad municipality lawyer

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has paid more than Rs2.54 lakh as fees to Dhaval Nanavati, son of justice GT Nanavati, chairman of the Nanavati and Mehta panel which is probing the 2002 communal riots.
The details were divulged over an application filed by an RTI activist Vinod Pandya. One Jignesh Goswami has also raised the issue of alleged favour to Nanavati’s sons Maulik and Dhaval by the government as the additional public prosecutor and panel advocate for AMC before the Gujarat high court.
According to details provided by the civic body, Dhaval was appointed as panel advocate since March 21, 2006. From 2006 he has received fees of Rs2,54,385.
According to details received by Pandya, Dhaval Nanavati got Rs16,283 in 2006-2007. He received highest amount of Rs87,860 in the next year of his appointment. In the last financial year he received Rs58,360.
Earlier Pandya also got details of Maulik Nanavati through an RTI from the state government. According to the RTI Maulik was appointed as the assistant public prosecuter on November 4, 2006 and then he was appointed as the additional public prosecutor in April 9, 2008.
From 2006 he has received fees of Rs27,20,162. The highest fees received by him was Rs15,55,800 in the year 2011-2012.
