Probe lax in Singh's illegal assets: BJP's Khadse

Hindu Business Line: Mumbai: Tuesday, April 03, 2012.
The Maharashtra Police has not conducted proper investigation into the illegal assets of Mr Kripashankar Singh, said Mr Eknath Khadse, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly
Action should be taken against Anti-Corruption Bureau officers who probed the former minister and Mumbai Congress Chief, said Mr Khadse.
He made the remarks while participating in a discussion on the Home Department.
Mr Khadse said that a number of properties belonging Mr Singh and his close family members have not been recorded in the police report and therefore it is incomplete, “I'm not making allegations against Mr Singh. RTI applications have provided me the details of his properties,” he said.
Mr Singh had served as a minister in the previous Congress-NCP government. He is also a MLA of the current Assembly.
On February 22, the Bombay High Court held that a case of criminal misconduct is made out against the leader and ordered his prosecution.
Mr Khadse said that the police department is under immense political pressure. Hence, it is not taking action against big politicians. Even in the case of Adarsh housing society case, CBI action was delayed. Prosecution in big cases only happen when courts issues directives.
Mr Khadse pointed that the Bureau has sanctioned strength of 187 officers but only 103 have been appointed. The remaining 84 positions are still vacant, which need to be urgently filled.
