NEW DELHI: The Rajasthan Cricket Association and Indian Premier League team-- Rajasthan Royals owe nearly Rs 4.5 crore to the state police towards security arrangements during cricket matches.
An RTI reply from the Rajasthan Police states that dues towards Secretary, Rajasthan Cricket Association are Rs 3.98 crore while the IPL team owned by Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra owe Rs 50.99 lakh.
The reply provided to activist Subhash Agrawal said RCA owed Rs 1.14 crore for Champions Trophy matches in 2006, Rs 17.87 lakh for a one-day match between India and South Africa on February 21, 2010, Rs 83.60 lakh for IPL matches in 2010, Rs 2.22 lakh for a one-day match between India and New Zealand on December 1, 2010, and Rs 1.79 crore for IPL matches in 2011.
The reply said all dues towards Rajasthan Royals were for security arrangements of IPL teams during the 2011 series.
"The dues towards RCA and Rajasthan Royals is total Rs 4.49 crore excluding the interest," the reply from Rajasthan Police said.
