Government gets RTI query on examgate; Applicant Seeks Copy Of Crime Branch Report.

GreaterKashmir.com: Srinagar: Tuesday, February 28, 2012.
With Jammu and Kashmir Government tightlipped over the contents of the Crime Branch report indicting former Education Minister Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed’s son of resorting to unfair means to pass his class 10 examination, the Chief Minister’s Office has received a query on the subject under Right to Information Act, 2009.
Convener of Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information (RTI) Movement, Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat, has filed an application in Chief Minister’s Office, seeking copy of the investigation report of Crime Branch.
“Kindly provide copy of the investigation report submitted by IGP Crime in connection with alleged unfair means adopted by foster son of former Education Minister Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed in matriculation examination held by J&K State Board of School Education,” the application reads.
As already reported, CB in its findings revealed that there were two hand writings on three answer scripts of the Class 10 exam taken by the Minister’s son. The answer script of Urdu paper was, as per probe, written by Mehraj-ud-Din Zargar, former deputy director academics BOSE, while answer scripts of Mathematics and Geography were written by Imtiyaz Ahmad, an education department official posted as Deputy Superintendent at the Al-Ameen School, Humhama, where the Minister’s son appeared in 10th class examination.
The probe was handed over to CB after this newspaper exposed how the Minister’s son resorted to unfair means to qualify his examination.
Following the report, Peerzada was divested of Education portfolio but he continues to be in the State Cabinet heading Public Enterprises Ministry. Surprisingly, no action has been taken against the indicted officials of BOSE and Education Department despite inquiry report pointing towards their role in scam.
