Chautala reimbursed Rs 595, Congress leader over Rs 5 lakh.

Chandigarh: Going by the Haryana Assembly records, it seems former chief minister and Leader of Opposition Om Prakash Chautala is the fittest of them all, as he has been reimbursed for his medical expenses of Rs 595 only. He is followed by state Congress chief Phool Chand Mullana who has received medical reimbursement of Rs 1,500 only.
While ailing Congress leader and former education minister Lachhman Das Arora has received medical reimbursement of Rs 5,50,673 against 46 bills, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has been reimbursed for his medical expenses of Rs 3,668 between 2005 and 2011.
Information provided in response to an RTI application filed by Sanjiv Sharma to the Assembly shows that ministers and chief parliamentary secretaries have claimed medical reimbursement ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 5 lakh for a period from 2005 to 2011.
Former deputy chief minister Chander Mohan, who converted to Islam as Chand Mohammad and married and then divorced Anuradha Bali alias Fiza Mohammad, claimed medical reimbursement of Rs 25,000 for himself and Rs 61,855 for his son.
Power Minister Captain Ajay Singh Yadav claimed Rs 1,88,465 against 16 medical bills covering his wife, son and himself.
Finance Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha received medical reimbursement of Rs 1,39,478 against 14 bills pertaining to his wife and himself.
Former transport minister Om Prakash Jain claimed reimbursement of medical expenses of Rs 2,18,993 against 18 bills related to him and his wife.
Similarly, former urban and local bodies minister A C Chaudhary took Rs 73,983 against medical expenditure of him and his wife.
Rajya Sabha MP Birender Singh billed Assembly a sum of Rs 62,608 against his and his wife’s medical expenses, and his bills ranged from Rs 450 to Rs 32,160.
Prominent among others who availed medical reimbursement are Randeep Singh Surjewala (Rs 33,810), Meena Rani (Rs 29,249) and the late Kartar Devi (Rs 5,04,986).
