6 ‘tainted’ in IAS probables.

Daily Bhaskar:Indore:Tuesday, February 21, 2012.
Madhya Pradesh government’s list of 23 State Administrative Services (SAS) officers for promotion to IAS has six candidates facing probes for various financial irregularities, an RTI reply said.
The RTI query revealed that state’s general administration department (GAD) on October 3 last year handed over the list to the Union ministry of personnel and training. The application was filed by activist Rajendra K Gupta, who sought information regarding recommendation made to the union government for promotion to IAS by the state government. On the same application, the state GAD had denied giving information.
Of the 23 SAS officers in the list, 8 have been penalised at one time or the other in their career when their increments were withheld.
“In the past also several such officers were promoted to IAS. That’s why, the GAD keeps the information confidential. CB Singh, who is collector Vidisha, and was promoted to IAS last year, has several cases of corruption against him which are being probed by Lokayukta,” Gupta told DNA.
The then principal secretary, GAD, Alka Upadhya, who sent the list to the union government, declined to comment on it. “Now I am not looking after of the department and I will not be able to comment over the issue,” she said.
Minister of State for GAD, Kanhaiyalal Agarwal pleaded ignorance on the issue. “I will inquire about the issue with officials of the department,” he told DNA.
