253 illegal occupants dot Panipat's historical fort.

Chandigarh: The historical fort of Panipat has been illegally occupied by 253 people, a report obtained through Right to Information (RTI) revealed on Friday.
On the basis of this information, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in this regard and drive against encroachment and illegal occupation of the government land was sought.
After a hearing on the PIL, a bench of Justice MM Kumar and Justice AK Mittal issued notice to Panipat District Magistrate and Panipat Municipal Corporation sought explanation on issue till Feb 17.
An NGO operating in Panipat said that the fort was built up by the Pandavas. It's been a symbol of India's independence movement. Mahatma Gandhi visited the fort twice to address people, it said.
