Raipur: 'Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism has suspended one of its students for allegedly seeking information under the Right to Information (RTI) act. Kamal Jyoti, a Ph.D student in Mass communication has sought details about the recent appointment on the post of a lecturer in the University’s Department of the Electronic Media.
According to Kamal Jyoti he was brutally assaulted by the Vice Chancellor and other staff of the university when he went to seek information about the appointment. Jyoti said that he has qualified NET exam and according to the UGC norms, a NET qualified candidate is given preference over other candidates during the selection procedure for the post of lecturer.
On the other hand, University officials refuted Kiran Jyoti’s allegations and told that he has been suspended for misbehaving with the Vice-Chancellor and creating ruckus in the office.
Vice-Chancellor of the University, Sachchidanand Joshi said that, ‘All the applicants are provided information under RTI on time and according to rules. Some people are trying to disrepute the university by levelling false allegations.”
