CHANDIGARH: After showing unnecessary haste in conducting interviews for the registrar post and approving the appointment, Panjab University (PU) authorities have again come under scanner in connection with the registrar post.
Some senior officials of PU have accused the varsity of not clearly defining the required eight-year education administration work experience in the advertisement, published in newspapers, for the post of registrar.
Advertisements, inviting eligible candidates for the post of registrar, were taken out in June this year. Interview for the post of registrar was conducted on August 29 and the PU syndicate approved the appointment of A K Bhandari, on the same evening.
Also in August, last year, seven candidates had given the interview for registrar post but none of them was selected, as they did not fulfill the required conditions.
"Candidates of PU authorities' choice did not possess the requisite eight-year experience of education administration, therefore university had changed the scope of work experience. They included things like member of a committee, hostel warden and other similar things in its ambit. But they did not divulge it in the advertisement,'' said a senior PU official.
He added, "Now, PU's own men know about the changes in the work experience but
people outside this varsity are not aware about it. They have not defined the definition
and scope of eight-year experience of educational administration in the advertisement. This is also not uploaded on PU's website.'' Besides PU authorities even refused to divulge details of work experience, required for registrar post, in an RTI query.
