CIC reviews RTI implementation in Bandipora.

Chief Information Commissioner G.R. Sufi reviewed the implementation of Right to Information (RTI) Act in Bandipora district at a meeting of Public Information Officers, Assistant Public Information officers, First Appellate Authorities and Senior officers here today.
Chief Information Commissioner briefed the concerned officers about their responsibilities in the implementation of the Act and explained in detail the provisions of Law related to it.
On the occasion, the CIC told that people of the state have a constitutional right to know about various aspects of the functioning of the state affairs besides implementation of various developmental and welfare programmes and RTI Legislation is the proper source for the purpose. He said, Commission has initiated several steps to ensure that necessary information is provided to the seekers of information.
Sufi stressed upon the concerned officers to provide desired information to people without any delay and cautioned that stern action under rules would be taken against those officials who fail to provide required information to the people under the act.
Later, the CIC presided over a meeting attended by the newly elected Panchayat members, prominent citizens, lawyers and senior officers of the district administration and discussed threadbare various issues with regard to the implementation of the RTI act.
