26 junior police officers lose job in Chhattisgarh.

Raipur, Sep 15 (PTI) The Chhattisgarh Government has terminated the services of 26 junior level police officers after a ruling by the High Court related to appointment of Sub-Inspectors in 2007, official sources said today.These officials are of Sub-Inspector and Platoon Commander ranks.The State Professional Exam Board had conducted preliminary exams for selection of 380 Sub-Inspectors and Platoon Commanders in 2006. In 2007, the first list of selected candidates was released and they were sent for training, the sources said.In the meanwhile, an unsuccessful candidates, brought to the light through RTI query, the fact that model answers of nine of the 150 questions asked in the exams were wrong.Accepting its mistake, the Board issued a fresh list in 2009 dropping the names of 26 candidates whose named had figured in the first list.These candidates moved the High Court, where they argued that they should not be punished for the mistake committed by the Board. They obtained a stay on the Board's list and continued in service.However, on September 6, the High Court upheld the validity of the fresh list released by the Board in 2009.Following this, the Government removed the 26 officers from service, the sources said.
