The state special chief secretary, Ms Minni Mathew, directed the officials to make efforts for proper implementation of Right to Information Act (RTI).
Taking part in a review meet on RTI with the officials here on Monday, the special chief secretary asked the officials to make themselves aware of several provisions and guidelines in order to implement the Act in its true spirit.
She said that though the Act was introduced six years ago, it was unfortunate that still a section of the officials were not having proper knowledge on its implementation.
She asked the officials to provide information to the citizens pertaining to various schemes, subsidies, and guidelines to avail the schemes, budget allocation, duties of the staff and their wages and other details required by them.
She said that the information should be given within 30 days of receiving a requisition for it and added that she was touring the state only to clarify the doubts and sort out any difficulties coming in the way in the implementation of the RTI.
She asked the ITDA project officers to play vital role in implementation of the Act for the benefit of the tribals in the Agency areas.
The collector, Dr G. Vani Mohan, said that they were holding regular review meet with the officials to ensure proper implementation of the Act.
