After addressing youths in Bijapur on Wednesday, AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi headed to P G Halakatti Memorial Hall to see rare photographs of past Congress presidents such as Purushottamdas Tandon, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. He asked organizers to send copies of these photographs to New Delhi.
In Udupi, he underscored the need of the Right to Information, which was the Congress's contribution to expose corruption. "Had the RTI Act not been implemented, many scams may not have come to light,'' he added.
To a question by a young woman worker on women don't get key positions in the party, Rahul said: "Our party president Sonia Gandhi is a woman. Two AICC secretaries attached to me are women Shanimol Usman looks after the Indian Youth Congress and Meenakshi Natarajan the NSUI (students wing). There are more such women leaders coming up in the Congress.''
