BJP condemns scrapping of Sanskrit school project

Panchkula : Condemning the scrapping of the Sanskrit school project by Shri Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board (SMMDSB), the BJP in Panchkula demanded that the project be restored.
The party had come to know about the scrapping of the project through information gathered under the RTI Act.
The school’s foundation was laid on January 27, 2003 on the land opposite to the 11 KVA switching station of SMMDSB. The main aim behind the project was house academics of the education department along with a Sanskrit Vidyalaya.
For this, a 2-acre land was allotted to the department for a period of two years on lease hold basis.
But later, the department began constructing the building in Sector 14. The earlier decision was reviewed in the meeting of SMMDSB held on August 20, 2006 and lease deed of the 2-acre land was cancelled.
“For the benefit of the devotees coming to pay obeisance, a parking lot has been set up on the same land the foundation stone pillar could not be retained,” said an SMMDSB official.
B B Singhal, Municipal Council vice-president, said: “The scrapping the project is a political decision. It was suitable for Mansa Devi as old manuscripts were to be preserved in the museum with the school. We demand restoration of the project.”
