PIOs fined under RTI Act;

PATNA: State information commissioner P N Narayanan, on Wednesday decided to impose fine of Rs 25,000 on public information officer (PIO)-cum-executive engineer, rural development, special division, Jamui, for not giving information under Right To Information (RTI) Act to one Maheshwar Prasad Singh.

The commissioner slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 on the PIO-cum-executive engineer with effect from June 9, 2009 , and directed him to provide the information sought by Singh and apprise the State Information Commission about this by June 30, 2011.

Narayanan also slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 on the PIO, office of district magistrate, Supaul, for not providing timely information to one Bhola Prasad Yadav and also not responding to a notice of the Commission. The commissioner imposed fine on the PIO, Supaul, for the period April 14, 2010, to February 23, 2011, and directed him to provide the information sought by Yadav before July 15.
