PATNA: State information commissioner (SIC) P N Narayanan on Friday imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on principal information officer (PIO) of Kashi Prasad Jayaswal Research Institute for not giving timely information to one Chittranjan Sharma under provision of Right to Information (RTI) Act.
The SIC directed the PIO of the Institute to give information to the Sharma latest by July 15 and inform the commission about it at the next hearing.
In another case, the SIC on Friday slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 on the PIO-cum-district education officer (DEO), Munger, for not giving information to an applicant, Raman Kumar, under the RTI Act. He directed the PIO-cum-DEO, Munger, to give information to the applicant and said in case of violation of this order of the SIC, he should explain his stand under provision of Section 20(2) of RTI Act to the commission on the next hearing of the case.
