KOCHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has stated that all the complaints received by the CBI Kochi branch against former Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan have been forwarded to the RegistrarGeneral of the Supreme Court.
In a reply to an RTI filed by D B Binu, general secretary, Human Rights Defence Forum, the SP of CBI Kochi has stated that they do not have the copies of the communication received by other government offices.
The CBI letter said no inquiry or investigation has been undertaken by the CBI on the 'above mentioned complaints'.
"The court is not the investigating agency. It is CBI which has to investigate. And yet they state that they do not have a copy of the complaints," Binu said.
The CBI office has no copy of the reply sent by K G Balakrishnan to the Home Department in response to the communication sent by Mahithab Singh, undersecretary of the vicepresident's office to the secretary, Home Department.
Moreover, the CBI has forwarded to PIO, Supreme Court, the letter asking for communications between various union departments regarding Balakrishnan's official misconduct and his accumulation of wealth disproportionate to his income.
