PUNE: RTI activists have registered a complaint with the state information commissioner about "insufficient and old" information provided to them by the zilla parishad of Pune under the Right to Information (RTI) Act of 2005.
Vivek Velankar said, "Relevant information was missing. The details of allocation of grants and list of beneficiaries were not available. Details and standards pertaining to deadlines for completion of work were not available either. We, therefore, registered a complaint with the general administration department for not providing information under 1 to 17 clause of section 4," he added.
Velankar cited the GR issued by the state government's general administration in 2009 which clearly stated that action would be initiated against officers concerned if any complaints are received from the public. It is also mentioned in the GR that such a mention should be made in the confidential report of the head office. Velankar and Vishwas Sahastrabuddhe have urged the state government to mention this shortcoming in the confidential report of the chief executive officer of the ZP.
