NCP corporator from Navi Mumbai filed fake school documents, reveals RTI
Suresh Shivaji Kulkarni, a NCP corporator from Navi Mumbai, had produced fake documents while filing candidate nomination form. This was revealed in a reply to a Right to Information (RTI) application.
What's more, even his father and grandfather had allegedly obtained bogus school certificates for political purposes. The police and the Election Commission are looking into the revelation.
The matter came to light when Santosh Shrimant Jadhav, a resident of ward no 42, same as Kulkarni, sought information through RTI last week.
The caste verification department, Swar Gate, Pune, replied that Kulkarni's certificate was fake.
Kulkarni known to be a Telugu Brahmin from Andhra Pradesh had claimed he was an OBC (Vadari) from Maharashtra.
Jadhav said Kulkarni had submitted his caste certificate on the basis of a class IV school certificate of Jivan Sikshan Vidyamandir, Turbhe. The RTI reply given by the school is that Kulkarni was never admitted to that school.
In his affidavit, Kulkarni said that his father Shivaji Govind Kulkarni and grandfather Govind Bantu Kulkarni studied at a municipal run school No 10 in Solapur. Kulkarni claimed that the school issued the certificates in year 2009.
However, the school had shut down in 1998 and handed over the charge to school No 25. Besides, all the documents in the school were supposedly stolen in 2000. For this a FIR had been lodged in 'Station' police station in Solapur.
On January 4, 2010 Kulkarni submitted an affidavit at the caste valuation department and on January 5 itself he got the certificate.
After getting all documents Jadhav filed complaints with the commissioner of police, Election Commission, Principal Secretary Social Welfare, Mantralaya and Home Secretary, Mantralaya seeking action against Kulkarni.
He has also moved the Bombay High Court over the issue requesting disqualification of Kulkarni.
"I have complained to several authorities asking action be taken against Kulkarni. It is shocking that Kulkarni has submitted all bogus documents," said Jadhav.
"I have received a complaint and forwarded it for further inquiry," said Ahmad Javed, commissioner of police, Navi Mumbai.
The Other Side
"I have all the original documents. I am the corporator since two terms and will be till death. Jadhav is playing with fire. My two big political enemies are trying to defame me. I am ready to face any challenge," Kulkarni said.
