Taking strong objection to the shifting of TTD special officer A V Dharma Reddy to the information commission, RTI activists demanded that the government cancel the transfer and post him to some other department. The activists threatened to launch an agitation before district collectorates from next week if the government failed to remove him from RTI.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, V Gopal Rao and Rao Chelakani of Samachara Praja Nigha Vedika said that an official with dubious background should not be given posting in an important department like the information commission. The government should cancel his appointment and post him in some other department, they said.
Gopal Rao said, "There were reports that Dharma Reddy committed many irregularities as special officer in the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams and at a time when an inquiry was going on against him he was shifted to other important department. The government should not encourage such officials," he added.
