Gangtok, May 11: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has received a complaint against some influential politician and senior officers of Sikkim to initiate inquiry in various illegalities and malpractices being carried out in the state of Sikkim on Monday. The complaint is filed by Sikkim BJP president Padam Chettri. The cases involve unlawful favoritism to the business venture of kith and kin of State Chief Minister, deliberately burning of shoes worth Rupees one crore, passage to smuggle Red Sandalwood to China, undue favour to politically influential P. K. Das by the Sikkim officials and massive fund embezzlement in the name of Tourist Villa at Ranka.
The cases were filed under section 13 (d) of prevention of corruption act based on the documents collected from various departments under the right to information act (RTI) and other press cuttings.
In view of the Apex Court’s observation in Writ Petition(Civil) No. 353 of 2006, petitioner Chettri beg CBI indulgence to look into and conduct thorough investigations in the alleged illegal and unethical and anti national activities being carried in the State of Sikkim under patronage of state machineries for illegal gains and advantage.
