RTI on Wheels on Vikas Jagruti Yatra by Disability Advocacy Group

Disability Advocacy groups is a group is actively working for organizing differently able people and empowering them to live dignified life. For past three years DAG representatives have done effective advocacy for getting policy changes in favour of differently able citizen. DAG members have also taken RTI training. They have been using RTI for getting transparency in implementation of welfare schemes and development programmes. DAG core group is working as resource group on RTI and are actively associated with RTI helpline. The Yatra has commenced on 5th January 2009 from Ahmedabad city. The objective of the VIKAS-JAGRUTI YATRA is to disseminate information about special schemes for differently able citizens. Information about schemes, budgets development programmes comes under pro-active disclosure as per section 4 of the act. Disseminating such information will set up transparent procedures and will reduce corruption in implementation, and eventually create compulsion for taking pro-active role and community participation. RTI on Wheels, a vehicle on RTI has joined this YATRA of the week. RTI on wheels will also orient citizen on Use of RTI, will disseminate pamphlets on RTI and NREGA.The Yatra is supported and guided by Handicap International, European Union and Government of Gujarat and Blind People's Association and has been associated by RUDMI, Ahmedabad and S.P.H, Ahmedabad Yatra will cover Daskroi, Dhandhuka, Dholka, Barwala, Mandal, Ranpur, Viramgam, Detroj blocks of Ahmedabad district and will end on 11th January 2009.
