Suchethana
Swaroop, State Chief Information Commissioner, said on Tuesday that the
officers concerned should dispose of applications submitted by applicants
seeking information under the Right to Information (RTI) Act at their level
within a limited time-frame.
Chairing a
meeting of officers at the District Offices Complex auditorium here, Dr.
Swaroop said that it was incumbent upon officers to keep suitable records of
the information provided by them to applicants. The information should
compulsorily be provided under registered post, he said.
The officers
should provide the information available with them to the applicants. If the
information sought was not available, this too should be intimated to the
applicants. Instead of giving incomplete information and delayed information,
the officers should give clear information, he said.
If the
applications were disposed of at the local level, then there was no reason for
applicants to approach the State Information Commission, Dr. Swaroop said.
Shivananda
Kapashi, CEO of Zilla Panchayat, G. Anuradha, Additional Deputy Commissioner,
and public information officers of various departments were present.
