The district administration
has no explanation for the queries on who the sponsors were or how much was
spent to organise the Nava Kerala Sadas event attended by the Chief Minister
and other ministers.
The request for information was made by mentioning the provision of Section 6(3) of the Right to Information Act, which states that if an explanation cannot be given, the application should be forwarded to other departments. The public information officer has the statutory duty to forward the application to the relevant office. However, no actions were taken regarding this.
When asked how much money was spent in Ernakulam district for the Nava Kerala Sadas and how much money was collected through sponsorship, the district administration replied that no amount was spent or collected through sponsorship.
The details of the sponsors are also unknown.
However, they stated that a total of 52,657 petitions were received through Nava Kerala Sadas, out of which 22,705 were resolved. They also shared that the state has already taken action in 3133 cases.
An application has been submitted by RTI activist M.K. Haridas to the Chief Secretary's office for information regarding the expenses and sponsorships.
