Times of India: Indore: Friday, 12 August 2022.
The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has spent Rs 68.46 crore in conducting examinations in the last four years, but couldn’t release the final result of even one of them.
The commission spent these crores on conduct of examination and related training between 2018-19 and 2021-22, says an RTI reply. It conducted 10 recruitment examinations where over 7.54 lakh candidates vied for around 1,400 posts, show the commission’s records. However, MPPSC couldn’t release the final result of any of these recruitment examinations due to litigation, including on the OBC reservation issue.
The gravity of this can be gauged by the fact that Madhya Pradesh high court directed the commission to revise the 2019 pre-results four months ago but it decided to wait for the judgement on the OBC issue.
Despite the legal hitches, the mains examination of PSC-2020 was conducted recently by giving 40% reservation to unreserved category and 27% to OBC 0151 maximum to both in the pre examination results taking total reservation to 113%. The MP high court had rejected this formula.
Other examinations like state engineering services, dentist, assistant director (social justice), assistant manager (public health and family welfare) and assistant director (agriculture department) are also stuck because of it.
MPPSC OSD R Panchbhai said, “The examinations conducted from 2019 till now are stuck at different stages because of the OBC reservation issue. In some examinations, interviews have been conducted and the final results are awaited, others are at intermediary stages. The commission will wait for the judgment in the OBC reservation issue as these are multilayered examinations.”
In 2022, the commission held the PSC-2021 examination for 283 posts, for which 3.55 lakh candidates had applied. This recruitment drive will also remain in limbo till PSC recruitments of the previous two years are cleared and final results are released.
The commission records also show that they earned around Rs 28 crore through publication of those advertisements in four years.
