The
Hyderabad HC on Wednesday stayed for three months all further proceedings
pertaining to the allotment of 6,500 square yards of land at Bandlaguda within
GHMC limits at a cheaper price to Hyderabad MP and AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi
and his MLA brother Akbaruddin Owaisi for setting up a hospital.
The
bench of Chief Justice TB Radhakrishnan and Justice V Ramasubramanian gave this
interim direction while hearing a public interest petition filed by Shaik
Aneesha of Tolichowki, who questioned the state’s action in this regard. When
asked by the bench, the state counsel too said that he had to obtain
instructions from the authorities to respond to this plea on behalf of the
state. The bench then stayed all further proceedings in the matter.
The
petitioner’s counsel told the bench that information pertaining to this
allotment has not been posted in the state’s website. On being told that the
petitioner’s efforts to get the details of the allotment through RTI route are
being failed, the bench said that the officials in both AP and Telangana are
not parting with the information under RTI Act properly.
The
petitioner contended that the land was worth Rs 40 crore but was given to the
Owaisis for Rs 3.75 crore. It was also mentioned in the plea, citing media
reports, that the land has been a subject matter of dispute between the state
and the Owaisis for several years.
The
bench also issued notices to Owaisi brothers, their hospital and to officials
such as chief secretary, principal secretary, revenue department, district
collectors of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts and GHMC commissioner.
