Doctors
Association Kashmir (DAK) Friday said that SKIMS administration is favoring
blue-eyed doctors in DM/MCH examination ignoring meritorious and deserving
candidates.
Expressing
shock over this practice of favoritism, President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan said
that influential and favorites are selected in post-doctoral courses and
genuine candidates are dropped.
“The favorite
candidates get huge marks in interview leaving behind those who secure much
better marks than the selected candidates in written examination,” Dr Hassan
said.
“This mars
the chances of many candidates who secure good marks in the written test but
cannot score as highly in interview,” he said, adding “The theory questions are
known to the candidates prior and the practical cases are known before hand.”
“The
examination system has been devised in such a way so that they can manage the
entry of their kith and kin.”
He alleged in
2012, an RTI revealed that SKIMS had issued a fraudulent selection list and
made selection of ineligible candidates for various DM/ MCH courses while
dropping genuine ones.
“Though
initially SKIMS authorities had denied unfairness, but after RTI they admitted
that selection list had many flaws and many genuine candidates were dropped for
no fault of them,” he said.
“The function
of academic section of SKIMS is so secrete and undemocratic that it does not
properly reply to candidates and is hiding information in connivance with
higher ups,” he said, adding “Majority of doctors on seeing this are not
appearing for examination as they know that the exercise is futile. This
unfairness has dejected and destroyed the morale of many doctors which led to
their exodus.”
DAK said that
it was because of fraud that MD/MS examination which was earlier conducted by
SKIMS has been taken away from it and is now being held by BOPEE.
“In order to
bring transparency in the system, DAK demands that DM/ MCH exam should be
conducted by BOPEE and the interview should be abolished as this practice of
viva-voce stems favouritism,” he said.
