Save Democracy Front led by noted thinker KN
Govindacharya will stage dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on August 6 to
oppose the amendment of the Right to Information Act 2005 for excluding the
political parties from its purview.
Govindacharya said that all affiliated organizations of
the Front and other groups would take active part in the proposed dharna.
Besides, public awareness campaign on this issue would be conducted across the
country from August 9 to 15.
Govindacharya said that it is not good for the democracy
to keep the political parties without rein. It is essential to bring electoral
reforms to bring qualitative changes in politics. It may be mentioned here that
the National Election Watch (NEW) and Association for Democratic Reforms will
also participate in the public action called by the national campaign for
people's right to information on August 6. The NEW and ADR have appealed to all
Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs to not support the proposed amendment of the
Right to Information Act 2005. This demand is supported by over 1,200
organizations, which are members of NEW across India.
