Punjabi
University student leader Harvinder Singh Sandhu on Monday submitted a copy of
the RTI reply regarding an alleged scam in Punjabi University Senior Secondary
Model School to the state Vigilance Bureau office. It occurred after he stated
that the university had failed to form a committee to probe the matter.
University
officials have said a four-member committee, comprising the school principal,
executive engineer’s office, Dean College and the SDO, has been formed to look
into the matter. University Registrar Manjit Singh Nijjar said: “We have formed
a committee comprising the four members. We also want to expand the panel by
including the Registrar’s office and the office of Dean Academics.
Harvinder
said: “The authorities have been giving contracts for school repair and new
construction at higher prices to preferred contractors. I had given the copy of
the RTI reply to the office over 10 days ago. All cases pertaining to the
university should have been solved within it. I had to go to the Vigilance
Bureau as the university failed to act in time.”
