PIOs workshop: RTI to help abolish nepotism

Right to Information (RTI) Act is playing major role in ensuring transparency, abolition of nepotism and supremacy of merit in public sector organisations of the province, said Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Information Commissioner Azmat Hanif Orakzai.
He was speaking at a training session of the Public Information Officers (PIOs) of districts Nowshera and Mardan. Over 50 government officials participated in the training session.
The chief information commissioner (CIC) said that the present government has over 100 laws including Right to Services Act 2014, Prevention of Conflict of Interest Act, Whistle Blower Protection Act and Right to Information Act 2013 from the provincial assembly.
Besides, guaranteeing participation of the masses in the official affairs, the basic purpose of these legislations was the supremacy of merit in public sector organizations, self-accountability and promotion of the spirit of responsibility in the province.
The main objective of the RTI Act was bringing improvement in the performance of organizations and giving access to the people regarding their performance.
