Times of India: Lucknow: Thursday, July 06, 2017.
Right to
Information (RTI) activist Dr Nutan Thakur had sought the documents related
with formation of the Judicial Inquiry Commission in the River front project
along with the inquiry report and the action taken on it.
According VN
Tiwari, Section Officer, Irrigation and Water resource department denied the
information saying that action in the irregularities of the project is going
on, hence the report cannot be provided as per provisions of section 8(h) of
the RTI Act.
Nutan said
the state government stand is not correct because section 8(h) is only as
regards criminal investigation and not administrative inquiries and gives
impression of something being hidden in the matter.

Riverfront was one of the dream projects of former chief minister Akhilesh
Yadav. After BJP came to power, on June 20, an FIR was lodged against eight
engineers of irrigation department for their alleged role in anomalies while
executing the project in Lucknow. The FIR was lodged on the basis of the report
of the judicial panel set up by the Yogi government to probe the irregularities
in the Rs 1590-crore project.
