Appointment of RTI commissioners

A division bench of Hyderabad High Court compromising acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganthan and Justice T. Rajini on Tuesday adjourned by two weeks the case filed regarding the appointment of RTI commissioners.

The case was filed by Forum for Good Governance. The court was told that the appellate commission has become redundant as new commissioners are not appointed. The bench said whether it is a schedule nine institution or not, as per Reorganisation Act the commission has to function. The governments have to tell the court the steps they have taken in this regard.
