The Assam
Information Commission, while disposing of a second appeal of the Directorate
of Agriculture today, observed that many public authorities have not complied
with the statutory provisions for suo-moto disclosure of information under
Section 4(2) required to be made within 120 days from the date of enactment of
the RTI Act, 2005.
Non-disclosure
of information has resulted in submission of a large number of RTI petitions,
appeals and complaints which could have been avoided had the public authorities
complied with the requirements of Section 4 of the Act.
