Compensate Jammu region in tourism development: JPP

State Times: Jammu: Wednesday, May 31, 2017.
While appreciating Prime Minister for his announcement of creating one lakh jobs for J and K State, the newly constituted Jammu People’s Party (JPP) appealed for creation of 50,000 jobs for Jammu region and immediate start of enrolling unemployed youth of the region for the same.
Alleging that Jammu region has been discriminated against Kashmir region in tourism development, JPP sought ‘as compensation to Jammu region’ fund allocation to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore towards infrastructural development of Jammu tourism.
In a press statement, jointly issued by R.K Chadha President, Vikram Gaur Vice President and Anil Sethi General Secretary, the JPP leaders requested Prime Minister to separate 50,000 jobs for Jammu region out of one lakh jobs announced by him for the State and should start enrollment of unemployed youth of Jammu immediately as the same has been started in Kashmir region.
JPP further requested the Prime Minister to allocate a separate fund of Rs 10,000 crore for creation of infrastructure for Jammu tourism as this sector has been discriminated in the ratio of 90:10 per cent as compared to Kashmir. This was noticed in a RTI that out of funds of Rs 2,200 crore spent in previous three years, while Rs 2,100 crores were spent in Kashmir, only approximately Rs 100 crore were spent in Jammu.
“This demand is meant to compensate the loss borne by the region because of discrimination of tourism sector in Jammu region,” JPP leaders said.
