The
Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) on Monday congratulated Sindh
Governor Muhammad Zubair and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on the
implementation of Right To Information (RTI) law.
CPNE
President Zia Shahid, Secretary General Ejazul Haq and executive members said
that it is on record that CPNE has been in the forefront for the approval of
the RTI Law.
In
this connection, the body held public awareness drives besides holding
symposia, workshops and seminars in universities with awareness programmes
through print, electronic media and radio.
The
CPNE held meetings with Sindh Senior Minister Nisar Khuhro, Muttahida Qaumi
Movement President Dr Farooq Sattar and Opposition Leader Khawaja Izharul Hasan
and PML-F lawmaker Mehtab Akbar Rashidi to give a final shape to the law.
The
CPNE also presented a document on RTI to Murad Ali Shah at a meeting.
Shahid
and Haq expressed their confidence that the Sindh government would play its due
role in ensuring basic human rights to the people. It is a vital move by
building of national network on creating RTI.
