Corruption is
the biggest enemy of the welfare of the people, this was opined by Arunachal
Pradesh chief information commissioner Dr Joram Begi.
Speaking at
an awareness camp on Right to Information Act, organized by the Arunachal
Information Commission in collaboration with the Tawang District
Administration, Begi said, “The objective of the landmark act is to empower the
citizens and promote transparency and accountability.”
He further
cautioned against the misuse of RTI and further instructed the officers to act
as watchdogs. However, he also exhorted the public authorities to act in
transparent manner by following laid down norms and procedures.
The
participants during the programme also witnessed an interactive session,
wherein doubts raised by many were cleared by the Commission. The programme was
also attended by Tawang DC, HoDs, officers, PRI members and NGOs.
